Ando's Issey Miyake Foundation, almost completed

The Issey Miyake Foundation has sent us photos of the 21_21 Design Sight building in Tokyo, designed by Tadao Ando Architects and Nikken Sekkei.

Located in the Tokyo Midtown development near Roppongi, the capital of Japan, the building will host exhibitions and seminars exploring the meaning of design.

The Issey Miyake Foundation describes 21_21 Design Sight as "a center for design research, a place to think about design, and a place to actually make things."

The center is the work of fashion designer Issey Miyake, who has appointed graphic designer Taku Satoh and industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa as its co-directors. Noriko Kawakami, former editor of AXIS magazine, is the deputy editor.

21_21 Design Sight will open its doors on March 30, 2007.
